Gas powered leaf blowers are often used for clearing large areas due to power and portability. However, they also create a large amount of air and noise pollution. For this reason, many places are placing restrictions on the use of gas powered leaf blowers.

Greener and Quieter
Los Angeles County has attempted to pass an ordinance banning gas powered leaf blowers, but so far such an ordinance has not passed to implement a permanent ban in Los Angeles County on gas powered leaf blowers, however, since January 2025 the Los Angeles County Public Health Department has issued a temporary prohibition on the use of any air blowers, including gas powered leaf blowers within Palisades and Eaton Wildfire Perimeter areas.
While the temporary prohibition applies to the aforementioned areas affected by the wildfires, cities within Los Angeles County have passed their own restrictions in their Municipal Codes.
For example, Los Angeles City Municipal Code Section 112.04(c) bans gas powered blowers from being used within 500 feet of a residence at any time.
The penalty for doing so is a $100 fine imposed on the one who uses the gas powered blower and, if that person was hired, on the one who contracted for the services.
